On A Trip To Nowhere
02:44
|
|||
there's so many times that I'm tired and I'm in the basement
working on stuff and I take a nap
and I go out in the backyard and cut the grass
and shave it down as close as my old head
I feel beefed up but burnt down
burping up bubbles from a weird old beer
that looks like its been open for a half of a year
imagine that
makes me wish it was later in the day
wouldn't it be fine
if I were to make it
to the end of the day
I'd love to crawl my way out of the moment
on a trip to nowhere
on a trip to nowhere
here's a song to show you how I'm feeling
this is a song to tell how I'm making things right
waiting for the lonely
waiting for the lonely guy
I'm waiting and waiting
ooh I'll always be waiting

Dingman's Ferry
03:11
|
|||
I'm a rolled up boat in an ambulance that takes on the shape of the moon
I'm no longer living in Dreamland while parked in a country of baboons
with grass stacked like homes for a traveling salesman who cooks up his muddy boots
who bums me out when in that ambulance states his quality of life directly affects his mood
I'm sorry that it feels just like getting older isn't real
It's not like getting older's some bad deal
it's more like somebody put it in your mind
that everybody's gunna have their time
in the crosseyed light
our bags were packed ready to go
it seems that we have missed the boat
three old boys with hearts that broke
stuck at the farm which is still fine
not quite what we had in mind
catch that boat some other time
I'm sorry but it looks like we're not going to find Dingman's Ferry
at least not tonight
It's more like somebody put it in your mind
the crosseyed light

Four Corners

Buffalo Joe ain't returning my calls
I wanna eat meat
and this is always his fault
he hired some girl from Alaska to put the old beast down
what ever happened to
used to have a line at the junkyard down at Four Corners
I like learning 'bout the land and the family that lives up the hill
I guess they don't speak anymore no more cousins
no more laughing no more sauces in the oven
Circus Boy moved in
and where are my kids?
do I have to mow your lawn for you? I've been waiting
and if that offends you I do not care
oh here comes Babysitter Man
how did everyone become so strange?
why the hell did you go and get yourself those turkeys?
there's already a turkey guy living on this side of the hill
the junkyard guy, he used to have a lion
they're trying to pull my heart right out of my chest
we had our kid and moved out here for less than a year
everything around us so beautiful we'd like to play a part
sometimes I get odd remarks or looked down at the country store
but I'm sure they'd like my family if they could see our hearts
oh here comes Babysitter Man
how did everyone become so strange

Heartfelt Sentiments
02:22
|
|||
brought my drums to Boone's last night man I missed him
he's got such a beautiful family
and they've got a farm up in Onondaga County
it's been such a very long time
but you all seem pretty much the same
you tear down an old barn
to build some type of new thing
I sure love the hard and dark raking sound
pile of leaves fall to the ground
straight on down
there is no more time to wait
spend your remaining days begging yourself to change
it hurts too much to hate

In the land of United States
I'm in America the United States
the cops are in their cars take a protective stance
driving down the road towards burning man
bricks, chairs and flags packed back in the van
driving back home to Birmingham
